YRDA Announces Little Princess Trust as Title Charity Partner

June 17, 2022

The YRDA is delighted to announce The Little Princess Trust as its charity in 2022. An important step for the YRDA using its platform consisting of so many young people to increase awareness of a charity doing so much good.

The Little Princess Trust provides real hair wigs, free of charge, for children and young people (up to the age of 24) who have lost their hair due to cancer treatment and other conditions. Since 2006, they have provided more than 12,000 wigs and over £20 million in grants towards research projects focused on finding more effective treatments for childhood cancers.

This provides a fantastic opportunity for YRDA to work with The Little Princess Trust and build a foundation to help spread awareness to those in need. YRDA driver Fergus Edwards has been a critical individual in the partnership of YRDA and LPT. This once again displays the incredible attributes of YRDA athletes and their desire to help and give back to causes close to them.

“Being able to work with The Little Princess Trust is a wonderfully special opportunity. After seeing the impacts of cancer on my dad a few years ago, I have come to appreciate how difficult it must be for anyone to go through such a struggle, let alone somebody young. I think that the work LPT does is truly magical and so important; providing children and other young people with wigs that enable them to feel confident and happy, as well as aiding research aiming to eliminate cancer once and for all. I have been incredibly fortunate in being able to help boost awareness in the motorsport industry, and wear their logo with pride when I race. I am looking forward to seeing how this partnership between the LPT and the YRDA grows."

Fergus Edwards (YRDA Driver)

Phil Brace, CEO of The Little Princess Trust, said: "We have really appreciated all the support we have already received from Fergus in helping to raise our profile through his exploits on the track. I am sure that this new partnership with the YRDA will let even more people know about our funding of childhood cancer research and the fact that our wigs are freely available to children and young people of all genders."

"We are delighted to announce The Little Princess Trust as the Young Racing Driver Academy’s first charity partner. We look forward to helping to raise awareness both on and off track of LPT and the support that it provides to children and young people with cancer. Introduced to us by LPT Ambassador Martyn Edwards and his son Fergus, who is himself a YRDA driver, the charity’s story, wonderful work, and values resonate with us and we are very proud to have established a link between LPT and our young racing drivers.”  - Jamie Horner (YRDA Founder and Director)

The entire YRDA and all its members are delighted to have The Little Princess Trust on board and we look forward to working very closely with them.
