Leon Wilson is an up and coming star new to the karting scene. Our media team caught up with him and here is what he had to say.
How does it feel to be a part of the YRDA?
I’m really excited about being accepted to Arden’s Young Racing Driver Academy. Having visited the site for my assessment I was very impressed with the set up and looking forward to being part of the team.
What is your first racing memory?
It must have been when I was about seven years old when my brother Richard took me to the local Go Karting circuit, I think I was then hooked and haven’t looked back since!
What are your ambitions and goals for the future?
Well maybe like a lot of boys of my age, to become an F1 professional racing driver, I realise this is a tall goal but I’m determined, and have the drive to get there.
5 words to describe yourself?
Considerate, sporty, determined, I was the only boy who won the “best in everyone award at school”, more than five words but perhaps best describes myself.
4 favourite tracks?
Imola, Silverstone, Spa-Francorchamps, Zanvoort.
3 favourite racing drivers?
Lando Norris, Max Verstappen, Daniel Ricciardo.
2 things you want to achieve?
Perhaps many more than just two, but to achieve my ambition to become and F1 professional driver and achieve being in the top 5 positions in my 1st season of F1
Goal for next season?
To win the British School Karting Championship 2022 for myself and East Hull Wheels
