Viva Las Vegas

December 10, 2021

It was that time of year again, the time for the crown Jewel of world karting, the Las Vegas SuperNats. One of the biggest events in one of the most iconic cities in the world, the SuperNats provide a spectacle which all drivers dream of winning and Vinnie headed out with high hopes.

As a former winner of the event back in 2017, Vinnie knew exactly what was needed out in the sin city and after adapting to the track and setting his strawberry racing machine up to go for qualifying Vinnie was ready to go all in. A busy track meant space was limited and optimising clean air was going to be essential to getting a good result. A tough session with the field so closely matched would see Vinnie finish in 16th overall in qualifying. Not the ideal result but knowing how strong his pace was a little bit of luck could bring Vinnie right into play.

This would Now see Vinnie starting from 18th for the first heat and he was going to be a man on a mission. A string start, then put Vinnie in an ideal place to start making movement up the field towards the top 10. Pushing hard and making moves when and wherever possible saw him clinch 9th at the line. A great recovery to start the weekends racing off.

With a boost in confidence after heat one Vinnie was ready to do it all again in heat two this time starting from the 16th spot on the grid. A string start would soon see Vinnie making some string progress up the field and soon breaking into the top 10. With time and laps remaining, Vinnie wasn’t done yet and kept on pushing to soon be closing in on the top 5. Now on the rear of them he made some strong and decisive moves and played his cards to perfection to secure a 4th place finish.  A gain of 12 places to put him back in contention.

Now with the third and final heat left to go before the infamous final everyone was fighting harder for position than ever to optimise their grid slot. A strong start from 16th saw Vinnie immediately thrown into an intense battle with his opposition pushing him to the limit and producing a spectacle in the night. It would be up 2 and 12th at the flag which would secure an 8th place start for the final. The best grid spot for Vinnie this weekend.

Now with the sun setting in Nevada and the city coming to life the engines fired and the final got underway. With a title of dreams on the line all drivers went all in and were pushing and fighting hard from start to finish. Vinnie was right in amongst the action and was putting on a masterclass display. However as with Vegas luck cannot always go your way and sadly Vinnie would finish on the fringe of the top 10.

Not the dream result for Vinnie but a great weekend racing in the desert. A fantastic opportunity which displayed his racing talents and that of the Strawberry Racing Team. As a winner already Vinnie will be back but until then Vegas, it's time to
