The 17-year-old superstar has had a fair share of impressive showings across his karting career and following his preparations with the YRDA is now ready to make a jump to the British F4 stage.
Tom has shown a huge degree of strength and maturity during his time in the sim with the YRDA coaches which saw him get up to speed very quickly. Throughout his testing with Arden Motorsport so far, it is clear Tom is going to be pushing hard for some great results. This means that following a strong 2020 Tom is hoping to take all lessons learnt on track and in the simulator to propel himself into the world of single seaters.
With the team around Tom renowned for taking rookies on and transforming them into champions, Ikin is sure to be in race winning hands heading into 2021. With three race wins and a handful of both main and rookie podiums in 2020, not only will Tom be pushing hard for the rookie title, the team will also have all eyes on reclaiming the constructors crown in 2021.
Looking ahead to the 2021 season the series will once again run along the BTCC and with live coverage on ITV4. Next year's calendar has already been revealed with the usual locations of Brands Hatch, Donington Park, Silverstone, Snetterton, Oulton Park, Croft, Knockhill and Thruxton featuring in the ten weekend season which will have a total of 30 rounds.
All giving Tom plenty of time to get settled in and push for some big results towards the end of the season.
Having tested the car at the numerous circuits, the team have been astounded with Toms potential shown and this amazing talent is reflected in the words of Arden Team Principle Gary Horner.
Gary Horner, Arden Team Principal: “We are delighted that Thomas will be joining Arden’s F4 team for the 2021 Championship and look forward to seeing him put in some strong rookie performances. It is good to see another driver graduating into single seaters from our Young Racing Driver Academy.”
Thomas Ikin: “I am very pleased to be racing with Arden Motorsport in British F4 for the 2021 season. After 18 months of working with YRDA it is a great feeling to finally be able to put into practice all of my training in and out of the simulator with both Steve Hutchinson and Chris Ray, and progress into the Formula 4 team.
I’ve really enjoyed working with the team so far over the tests I’ve completed. They have helped me learn and progress a lot and I feel very much at home here.
I’m looking forward to seeing what we can achieve together next year”
Tom now looks ahead to a busy testing schedule ahead of 2021 and will be ready to make his debut in single seaters at Brands Hatch on the 3rd/4th April.
