Macie Hitter to race Ginetta Junior in 2021

Ginetta Junior Championship

It has just been announced that 13 year old, Macie Hitter, will make the step up from Karting to Cars in 2021 as she prepares to make her debut in the Ginetta Junior Championship. Macie has joined British GT team, Assetto Motorsport and will spend the majority of the season testing before racing at the end of the season. Macie will be the youngest and only female driver on the grid and will use YRDA’s state of the art facilities to help prepare for the challenge ahead.

Macie Hitter has spent her Karting career breaking new records when it comes to females in the sport. Despite just a few years in the sport she already has a large amount of awards and championships under her belt and has now decided to start getting ready for the next step in her Motorsport career.

With Assetto Motorsport also making the step up to the British GT Championship in 2021 there has been a clear pathway set for Macie to follow in the footsteps of some of her fellow YRDA athletes. Both Tom Wood and Tom Canning raced in the Ginetta Junior Championship before both then moved on to British GT with the latter winning the GT4 title in 2019.

With Tom Wood now racing in VLN and Tom Canning in the Asian Le Mans Series, Macie has high hopes to do something similar and catch the attention of some of her female colleagues along the way.

The YRDA were successful in helping Jem Hepworth win the Britcar title in her debut season and we will be hoping to help lead Macie to similar success.

Macie has spent most of her years in Karting with Coles Racing competing in the Hunts Kart Racing Club Championship. Racing in both the Cadet and Junior X30 classes, Macie will be competing against many familiar faces when she makes her debut later this year.

As ever, the Ginetta Junior Championship will support the British Touring Car Championship in 2021. The series will be present at 9 of the 10 rounds with live coverage going out on ITV4. Although the 30,000+ spectators expected at each round are currently restricted from entering this could change in time for Macie’s debut.

Macie will be looking to race in the final three rounds of the championship which starts with Silverstone National on the 25th/26th September. The next stop will be Donnington Park National before the season finale at Brands Hatch GP. Labelled the major three circuits in the country and all providing different challenges it gives Macie the perfect chance to find her feet before entering as a rookie for her first full season in 2022.

We are excited to help Macie prepare for this next step in her career and are looking forward to adding further YRDA athletes to the Ginetta Junior grid.

Macie Hitter: “I am really excited to be taking the next step into Ginetta , and really grateful to have the opportunity to be part of the YRDA team, using their state of the art facilities and mentoring.   I am also looking forward to being a part of the Assetto team for the Ginetta Series.”
