Jem with eye on Britcar title after home win

October 20, 2020

Jem Hepworth took a memorable win in the Britcar Endurance championship last weekend winning at the home of British Motorsport, Silverstone. Racing on the International layout Jem and her teammate, Danny Harrison, came back from a disappointing end at Oulton Park to driver the VR Motorsport powered Praga R1T home to an exceptionally victory winning by over 60 seconds!

On the week that saw Jem meet with Formula One driver, Romain Grosjean, the week was topped off with an almost perfect performance at Silverstone. After their championship hopes took a slight knock with the misfortunes at Oulton Park Jem knew she had to fight back at Silverstone.

Jem has great memories at Silverstone, as she told Romain, after competing in the Citroen C1 24 Hour where she drove her car up to 2nd in a grid of 100 cars! She proved that was no fluke with her and Danny taking pole position for race one by over two seconds. It begged the question of how much they would win by rather than if they would win!

However, nothing in Motorsport a is guaranteed and from the very start Jem and Danny got into a comfortable lead before gradually increasing that over the race. As they continued to set fastest laps there was simply no keeping up with Jem as she lapped almost the entire field!

She looked at home around the Silverstone International circuit and by the flag had a lead of over 60 seconds to take another memorable win. It seems when Jem wins in Britcar she does it in style and this was just another example of that.

Sadly, like Oulton, Jem and Danny would have to retire from race two, meaning they are still over twenty points behind in the championship. However, there are still two races to go at the season finale which will take place at Snetterton in two weeks’ time.

Still in her first full season of car racing, Jem will be looking to add to her tally of victories and end the season in style and maybe as a champion too!
