Fergus Edwards becomes the latest driver to join the YRDA further strengthening our Karting representation. The 16-year-old joins the likes of Jem Hepworth, Lewis Halliday, Luke Watts and Ethian Symonds all looking to break into the next level of the sport. Although still early into his career Fergus has already set his sights on the future and follow in the footsteps of Frederick Lubin who recently confirmed himself on the British F4 grid for 2020.

In his three years in the sport so far Fergus has mostly raced in the corporate scene something that has been done by many over the years including the likes of Formula E driver Sam Bird. His most recent achievement was becoming a BSKC Regional Finalist highlighting how fast he has been progressing.

Joining the YRDA will allow Fergus to use state-of-the-art training facilities at St. George’s Park and work with experts in all areas to help improve himself as an athlete. Fergus will also have the chance to use our simulator at our Arden Motorsport base and work with the same engineers that work with the British F4 and Formula Renault Eurocup Arden drivers.

All this hard work will be aimed at getting Fergus into a single seater for the first time to complete a full test day. It was a similar mission that Frederick Lubin had over the last two years. Having stayed under the radar in Karting Frederick made British F4 his sole focus and he recently announced himself on the 2020 grid.

We are very excited to welcome Fergus onto the YRDA. Ever since he first jumped in a Kart he has finished on championship podiums in every series he competed in and his experience at racing in both sprint and endurance championships will no doubt be a huge benefit to his future career.

Fergus Edwards: “Since joining YRDA in October I’ve been made to feel very welcome by everyone. I’m keen to improve my driving and personal ability and to learn from such excellent coaching staff, not only in the simulator but with personal fitness and skill development as well. I’m thoroughly looking forward to making the most of such a great opportunity and I’m excited for the future.”

Work with Fergus has already begun and we look forward to furthering his career over the coming weeks and months. Keep an eye on our website and social media channels for further updates on Fergus’ progress.
