BRDC British F3
All good things must come to an end and last weekend saw the season conclusion of the 2021 GB3 championship. A new adventure for Freddie and the Arden team meant anything was possible and delivering was of paramount importance. The season has been filled with highs and lows. Team wins and podiums for Freddie, and then being ruled out for medical reasons halting his championship assault. But still, the end of the season came and Freddie was ready for one last weekend.
The weekend and season finale at Brands Hatch, got underway with qualifying and Freddie was looking fast, with such tight and competitive field, margins were tight and after setting a solid lap of 1.24.985 he secured 15th overall where he would go onto start his next two races.
Race one was a mighty charge by Freddie and the #YRDArmy driver pushed on hard to climb his way into the top 10. Keeping the pressure on and never giving up Freddie fought hard for each and every position and claimed 8th at the flag. A gain of 7 positions. This was a great start to the weekend and outlined Freddie’s pace heading into the second race.
Starting from P15 again the mission was to go forward and with his Arden RedArrow, he certainly had a good chance. Pushing hard and gaining positions he found himself fighting hard on the cusp of the top ten battling hard each and every lap. Come the flag Freddie would narrowly miss out on a top ten result but still making forward progress would bring confidence heading into the final race where Freddie would start 7th.
The final race of the weekend and of the year brought Freddie’s best shot of another GB3 podium and the mission was on from the second lights went out. Pushing hard Freddie was more determined than ever to end his season on a high and put in a monster effort to finish 3rd and claim some silverware for the Arden team.
A great debut year and a year of what could’ve been had a break not been necessary. Now eyes turn to the future and whatever it holds you can be sure that Frederick Lubin will be right at the front.
