Double podium in British F4 for the #YRDA at Snetterton

June 15, 2021

British F4

It was a strong weekend for the #YRDA and Arden #RedArrows at Snetterton for rounds 3,4 and 5 of the 2021 British F4 Championship. The weekend would see the team head to Snetterton to do battle and deliver the strongest results of the season so far.

Another Podium for Taylor

It was once again another great showing for Zak Taylor who scored his maiden F4 podium at round 1. Being the only Arden driver with experience on the TOCA race tracks, Taylor led the Arden trio in the practice sessions finishing in the top 3 in FP1 and another strong result in FP2.

The weekend's qualifying session proved difficult and with such a close field despite being right on pace, Taylor would find himself down in 11th position with work to do heading into race 1.  This first race proved a tough one with three-wide action throughout and intense battles up and down the field Taylor would maintain position claiming 11th place. While the result was far from ideal, this did secure a very strong starting position for race two and with great pace all eyes were on securing a podium finish.

This was exactly what Taylor did fighting hard from P7, Taylor displayed his racing process and delivered a fantastic result showing all the hard work put in to secure a double Arden and YRDA podium with Taylor in 3rd place. A second podium of the season in just as many rounds proving Taylor is a force to be reckoned with.

Race 3 would also be a good showing for the young Brit coming forward two positions in an intense race to secure further points with an 8th place finish and and some fantastic battling.

A great weekend on the whole for Taylor and now still with room for improvement will be looking to climb back onto the podium soon at the next round.

A maiden podium and many positives for Tom Ikin

It was a fantastic showing for Tom Ikin at Snetterton as he continues to build his confidence in the Arden F4 car every time he gets behind the wheel and this weekend was no exception as he displayed his talents to a premium.

The weekend got off to a solid start with improvements from practice 1 to 2 and preparing nicely ahead of the qualifying session. Similar to teammate Taylor, Ikin’s qualifying session was a difficult one ending up 16th leaving plenty of work to do in race 1.

Race one would see some forward progress however come the flag it would be a 15th place finish. However, not all news was bad as this would secure a 3rd place start for race two opening up an opportunity to deliver a maiden podium. A deliver is exactly what Ikin would do fighting hard from lights to flag Ikin put in a seasons best performance securing P2 at the line leading teammate Taylor home for a double podium.

Race 3 would also be a good showing with some intense battles and while the Ned result wasn’t the desired one it still displayed the efforts behind the scenes and rounded off an amazing weekend for Ikin.

Now all eyes turn to the next round for our #RedArrows where podiums and race wins are certainly within reach.
