Anthony Eagle becomes third Motorcycle racer in YRDA

November 20, 2019

Malaysia Superbike Championship

We are very excited to welcome Malaysian based rider, Anthony Eagle onto the YRDA programme. Anthony has had a brilliant season racing in both the Malaysian Superbike Championship and Malaysian Speed Festival on a 250cc. The 14-year-old, in just his third year of racing, has taken wins and podiums across both championships and is quickly rising through the ranks in Asia making him one to watch for 2020.

Anthony first began his rise through the ranks at the end of 2017 after switching from MiniMoto to MiniGP’s. The following year saw Anthony race in the 150cc class in Malaysia and also began to test 250cc bikes in preparation for this season. This year would be Anthony’s biggest season signing himself up for both the Superbike Championship and Speed Festival in Malaysia.

Anthony displayed impressive consistency at the Festival finishing on the podium at both rounds with a 3rd at round one and a win at round two. The Superbike Championship would see similar performances with Anthony inside the top ten at the first three rounds with four top five finishes along with a 9th and an unfortunate DNF.

The final two rounds would see mixed fortunes, but his earlier results would help Anthony to finish 7th in the championship. With such limited experience at this level it was a brilliant result and a sign of fast progress from someone who should usually still be riding in the 125cc category.

In a career that is growing at a rapid rate, Anthony has joined the YRDA programme to help with his progress off the circuit as well as on it. He joins our current motorcycle riders Sam Wilford and Max Cook who will both be racing at European level in the FIM CEV Moto2 and Moto3 Championships next year. With the chance to work with both Sam and Max it will help Anthony develop himself as a rider off track and give him some great contacts in Europe.

Plans for 2020 are yet to be revealed, but in Malaysia he could look to do another season in the 250cc with the 600cc the next step on the ladder in the Superbike Championship after that. Racing in Malaysia gives Anthony the experience to race at the Sepang circuit which gives him the opportunity to race on one of the circuits on the MotoGP calendar.

Whatever Anthony decides to do its set to be a fantastic season and we can’t wait to be a part of it!

Anthony Eagle: “To be a part of YRDA is a very special feeling because no matter what happens you feel that you have got back up when needed and there is always someone there to help you out.”
