Anthony Eagle 6th at Malaysia Speed Festival

December 4, 2019

Malaysian Superbike Championship

It was an impressive weekend for our Malaysia based rider, Anthony Eagle, who finished 6th at the Malaysian Speed Festival on his debut in the Supersport class. Racing a 600cc bike for the first time, it was a big step up for Anthony but he showed his abilities to quickly adjust on the Sepang circuit and finished the weekend 6th in the final.

The Malaysian Speed Festival (MSF) is a celebration of Motorsport in Asia which sees both two and four-wheel racing which takes place over six rounds in Malaysia. After a strong year racing in the 250cc class, which saw Anthony take a win and podium in the MSF throughout the year, he was given the brilliant opportunity by the Horizon Racing Team to race a Honda CBR 600cc.

Being the next step up from the 250cc class it was a great way for Anthony to end his season after his success in the 250 class. Being a last-minute call up Anthony would not have any time to test so treated the weekend as a learning experience rather than going in with any specific goals.

Anthony was racing in the 125cc class last year so it has been a fast rise through the ranks and his results have clearly impressed many with this opportunity being given to him last minute.

On arrival Anthony had a lot of things to adjust too with the most obvious being the sheer speed of the bike! Despite limited track time, Anthony negotiated his way around his machine very quickly and was soon up to pace and setting some impressive times.

After good progress throughout the day Anthony ended the day with a fantastic result in the final finishing in 6th place overall. It capped off what had been a brilliant weekend not only for results, but for Anthony’s career in general. He was able to show that he can already put in competitive times on a 600cc bike and that should help him open up more doors going into the 2020 season.

Anthony Eagle: "What a weekend of racing at round five and the final round of the Malaysia Speed Festival! Thank you to 'Most Fun Gym' for letting me use their bike on my first ever 600cc race and also Ron from Shark Helmets for sponsoring a helmet to use for the race. Overall I made great progress throughout the day and in the end finished in 6th position! Hopefully I can do this again next year sometime and see what other opportunities I have. Thanks again to Ron from Shark Helmets and a big thanks to 'Most Fun Gym' for inviting me over for a ride. Thank you so very much!"

Plans for 2020 are yet to be revealed, but after the MSF there is a chance decisions may be harder to make for Anthony in what is set to be his biggest season yet.
