Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0
Arden Motorsport are delighted to confirm Alex Quinn will contest the next three events in the 2019 Formula Renault Eurocup as a stand-in for regular entry Sebastian Fernandez.
He will substitute for the Spaniard at the Nurburgring, Hungaroring and Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya whilst Fernandez fulfils his pre-existing commitments in the FIA Formula 3 Championship.
Quinn, who took seven race victories and the Rookie title as an integral part of Arden’s British Formula 4 squad in 2016 and ’17, most recently competed in the British GT Championship.
He also has experience in BRDC British Formula 3 on his CV, making Quinn the ideal choice to fill in alongside new team-mates Patrik Pasma and Frank Bird in Arden’s three-car assault.
The focus now turns to adapting quickly to the 1.8-litre Formula 3-spec chassis and three brand-new circuits for Quinn over the coming weeks.
Quinn joins the team on a high with their first silverware of the season last time out at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps and head back to the Nurburgring this weekend keen for a repeat of past successes in the Eifel Mountains.
“I am more than excited to jump into the Formula Renault and get started. After being out of the seat for a while now, I can’t thank everybody at Arden Motorsport enough for trusting me.
“It’ll be a steep learning curve for sure, but now I need to go out and do the business on track, starting this weekend at the Nurburgring.”
Ben Salter, Arden Formula Renault Team Manager:
“Firstly, I know everybody at Arden Motorsport is very pleased to have Alex back in the driving seat as a substitute for Sebastian over the next few meetings.
“Jumping into the Formula Renault mid-season presents several challenges, but Alex has shown time and again in other categories that he has what it takes.
“Building up to be competitive will be the main focus over the three weekends, as well as adapting to the car and three new circuits for him on top of that.
“All being well, he should have a good run, and we look forward to working with him again.”
