Since joining the YRDA in 2017, Alex has been honing his skills on the YRDA’s purpose-built F4 simulator at Arden’s HQ in Banbury. Despite living in Dubai, cloud-based technology has allowed the YRDA team to guide and monitor Alex’s fitness training over the last 18 months to make sure that his physical conditioning is more than a match for the demands of driving an F4car.
Alex has been making an impact on the highly competitive UAE Karting scene for the last few years as he has made his way through the Rotax and X30 classes. He started racing in 2014 and has made an impression beyond the shores of the UAE, qualifying for the 2015, 2016 and 2017 Sodi World Series Junior Cup World Finals where he finished in the Top Ten every year including a fantastic performance in 2016 when he finished third.
In only his second full season of racing, Alex finished as Vice Champion in the UAE RMC Micro Max Championship and Champion in the X30 Cadet class. Alex has continued to race in the UAE, whilst competing in selected European and UK races in Junior Max with KR-Sport such as Kartmasters British Kart Grand Prix.
Having had the opportunity to be coached by world-class mentors such as Dame Kelly Holmes and Thinus Delport, Alex is very aware that technical skill is only part of what is needed to be a successful sportsman. With the support of TBOS he will receive expert mentoring, technical guidance and human performance support as well as the legal, commercial and branding input that is a pre-requisite to becoming a successful professional racing driver.
Alex Connor: “This is a great opportunity for me. The TBOS team have so much experience and knowledge which will be very helpful to me as I take my first steps towards a career in motorsport. The YRDA, TBOS and the Arden team have all shown confidence in me and given me the best experience so far. I’m really looking forward to working with them in British F4.”
Jamie Horner (CEO TBOS): “Alex is a tremendous talent and we are proud to have him as part of our driver roster. He has excelled in his first F4 tests and has shown a level of intelligence, maturity, professionalism, desire and determination that signals the prospect of a very successful career ahead. We are looking forward to being an integral part of that journey."
