The Formula 1 star Daniel Ricciardo backed UK kart racing series that sees competitors from all over the country racing at kart circuits across many counties such as Dorset, Gloucestershire, Northamptonshire and Lincolnshire has seen Sheffield’s rising star Rowan Campbell-Pilling crowned Junior Champion 2021.
Many of the kart racing circuits visited are renowned for where other Formula 1 stars such as Jenson Button, Lewis Hamilton, Lando Norris and George Russell have learned their craft.
This year Rowan qualified pole at Rissington Kart Circuit in Gloucestershire at round 2 and 5 and went on to win 5 of the 6 races there. He also won races in Northamptonshire and has enjoyed multiple podiums throughout the season. As Rowan entered the final round of the championship in a windswept and wet Lincolnshire at the weekend he qualified 3rd and after a 2nd place finish in the pre-final his delight was clear as he had already clinched the UK Junior Championship before the grand final. A great achievement for this Sheffield rising star.
Also bringing home a title for the YRDA at the weekend was Caden McQueen who after a successful second season competing in the Ultimate Karting Championship, was crowned the 2021 Champion.
With the championship taking drivers up and down the nation, racing at some of the most incredible circuits, consistency in 2021 was going to be key and the YRDA star perfectly executed this. Only straying from the podium once in the finals, Caden produced a masterclass to wipe the floor with the competition at the end of the year.
Caden’s rise to champion wasn’t all easy though, a strong competitive grid saw him pushed to his max and with Ollie Greenall pushing Caden weekend after weekend and a few surprise results Caden had to maintain 100% focus throughout in order to seal the deal.
An amazing year for a new recruit and now with eyes on 2022, the season ahead is set to be filled with more trophies for the one and only Caden McQueen.
